Designer’s Profile

About

A bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Advertising and Public Relations. Minors in Marketing and English from Middle Tennessee State University.

I consider myself fortunate to have enjoyed a career in a trade that also happens to be a hobby. I get as excited today working on a design project as I did over 25 years ago designing my first newspaper ad. Since that day, thousands of pieces have been designed. Projects ranging in sizes from a billboard to small logos. Many times creating a new challenge along the journey. Perhaps, that’s the key that keeps it fresh and rewarding. The excitement of discovering a new procedure, technique, or trend in the industry, then able to share with others.

I’ve remained loyal to my craft. I research design trends, business category specifics, trending colors, and continuously remain a student of software applications that will allow for the cleanest product

Currently, a Freelance Graphic Designer managing and coordinating design projects for print and web presence from concept through completion. I work closely with clients to create a vision for their design and conform to their brand. Consistently strive to exceed my client’s expectations.

The previous 18 years I’ve had the opportunity of working with one of the nation’s largest direct mail advertisers. Designing ads for every business category imaginable for our franchises across the United States and Canada, and for a brief period, designed for a sales franchise in the United Kingdom.

Advanced to a role as a Graphic Specialist. This is where it really becomes fun. My role is to Research business categories for specifics in areas of color and design, then create spec templates that fulfill the category and make them available for other artist to “plug-n-play.” It’s a win-win! The artists are able to produce more work in less time, which make the clients extremely delighted and profitable.

Moved into the Graphic’s Desktop Training position (5 years), with the same company. New hire training, along with migrating our current 70+ Graphic Designers to newer software, and techniques. I’ve had the privilege designing and developing training curricula, along with reference materials and job aids. Produced over 250 on-line tutorials, and operating procedures for the Graphic’s Department, Customer Service Department, and in-house Designers for our numerous franchises.

I look forward to teaming with you in any of the roles mentioned, and always eager to develop and broaden additional skill sets.

Volunteerism: Cypress Meadows Community Church. Served with the Tech Team for over 10 years. Working with this team has lead to discovering new talents and engagement with new gear. Who would have thought a sound board could be that cool, not to mention, Media Shout and ProPresenter; video production, and tinkering in Adobe Premiere Pro editing software.
Thank you for taking the time to review some of my work.
